Glove Box for Chemical Experiment Gas Purification

Chemical experiments frequently generate hazardous gases that threaten operator health and degrade indoor and ambient air quality. In laboratory settings, conventional fume hoods can reduce exposure; however, bench-scale operations conducted on shared instrument benches or temporary set-ups away from a hood (e.g., catalyst screening rigs or gas-evolution tests) often lack effective capture, allowing contaminants to disperse into occupied areas. Moreover, most ventilation systems provide only air exchange; they exhaust untreated gases to the outside and therefore do not eliminate human exposure or secondary environmental pollution.

To address these limitations, we provide a gas-purification glove box designed for chemical experiments to minimize human injury and environmental release. The system consists of a sealed glove box and a gas adsorption/purification module. The glove box is fabricated from tempered glass and incorporates glove ports with gloves, as well as dedicated inlet and outlet valves. The purification module features a transparent housing containing adsorption plates, with an engineered air inlet and outlet; the outlet ties into the exhaust line. The glove box outlet valve connects—via an induced-draft fan and flexible hose—to the purifier inlet. Inside the purifier, the adsorption plates are oriented vertically with the airflow to maximize contact time and capture efficiency.
