Rule of thumb: if your work is ppm/moisture-critical, start with Butyl; if it’s solvent-aggressive, choose Viton; for everyday tasks, Nitrile is fine and inexpensive.


Sizing & thickness (get the fit right)

  • Port sizes: common rings are 8″ (~203 mm) and 10″ (~254 mm); match glove bead to ring.
  • Length: choose a gauntlet that reaches past mid-forearm without stretching at full reach.
  • Thickness:
    • 12–16 mil (0.3–0.4 mm): fine assembly, best feel.
    • 20–30 mil (0.5–0.75 mm): longer life, solvent handling.
  • For delicate work, use thin glove + inner disposable nitrile for hygiene.

Daily 30-second leak check

  1. Set box to +5 mbar and keep hands out.
  2. Wipe glove surface; pinch finger tips—listen/feel for leaks.
  3. Spray a light IPA mist on seams while gently flexing; watch for disturbance or odor ingress.
  4. If in doubt, change the glove—tiny leaks waste purifier life.
